What makes Jennerstown Community unique? Jennerstown Community Church is a place where all people are welcomed.  Our Sunday services present the timeless truths of Christianity in a way that impacts people in their lives today. No matter where you are on your spiritual journey, you can grow in your understanding of Christianity at these services.  We are members of the WCA (Wesleyan Covenant Association).

What will the services be like? The first service is more traditional but includes, at various times, drama, media presentations, special music, and practical messages.  The second service is more contemporary and includes music from our praise band and practical messages.

What should I wear to Jennerstown Community? Casual clothes are the norm at JCC. For example, people are encouraged to wear whatever is comfortable for them during the year.  We have a wide variety of attire each Sunday, from suits to shorts.  Our sanctuary is air-conditioned so please be aware of that during the summer months.

How long are services? The Sunday services at JCC typically last about an hour.

Will I be singled out in any way as a visitor? At Jennerstown Community Church, you’ll never be put on the spot, never feel forced to give money, and never embarrassed. Let the service be a gift to you.

Is there something for my kids during the service? We offer J.A.M. (Jesus and Me) every third Sunday following the children's message at the 9am service. We also offer special children’s bulletins depending on their age. Also, we offer Sunday school each Sunday at 10am and Vacation Bible School every June.

Is Jennerstown Community a Christian church? Jennerstown Community Church is a denominational church affiliated with the Global Methodist Church.  We are deeply committed to the eternal truths of the Christian faith.  The motto or mission of our church is:  Passion for Jesus – Compassion for people.  We also see as our vision that as a congregation, “Every member a minister – Every member in ministry.”

However, what truly defines a church is not simply its doctrine, but its values. Jennerstown Community Church’s values shape who we are.  Below are a few of JCC’s values and some of the passages from the Bible that support them:

We believe that the Bible is true and that its teaching is the catalyst for life-change in individuals’ lives and in the church.  John Wesley, the founder of the United Methodist Church, believed that the living core of the Christian faith was revealed in Scripture, illumined by tradition, vivified in personal experience, and confirmed by reason.  The Scriptures are our ultimate authority.  (Romans 12:7; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; James 1:23-25; Hebrews 4:12; Acts 2:42; 20:32)

We believe that lost people matter to God, and therefore they ought to matter to the church. (Luke 5:30-32; Luke 15; Matthew 18:14)

We believe that the church should be culturally relevant while remaining doctrinally pure. (1 Corinthians 9:19-23)

We believe that followers of Christ should manifest authenticity and strive for continuous spiritual growth. (Matthew 26:38ff; Ephesians 4:25-26, 32; Philippians 1:6; Romans 8:29; Hebrews 12:1; 1 Corinthians 3:1-3)

We believe that the church should operate as a unified community of servants sharing their spiritual gifts. (Romans 12; Ephesians 4; John 13; Philippians 2; 1 Corinthians 12, 14)

We believe that marriage is sacred and God’s only design for it is one man and one woman. (Genesis 1:18-24; Matthew 19:4-6; 1 Corinthians 7:2-5; Ephesians 5:22-28)

We believe that loving relationships should permeate every aspect of church life. (1 Corinthians 13; Nehemiah 3; Luke 10:1; John 12:34-35)

We believe that life-change happens best through relationships. (Luke 6:12-13; Acts 2:44-47)

We believe that excellence honors God and inspires people. (Colossians 3:17; Malachi 1:6-14; Proverbs 27:17)

We believe that churches should be led by those with leadership gifts and structured according to the nature and mission of the church. (Nehemiah 1,2; Romans 12:8; 1 Timothy 3; 1 Peter 5; Ephesians 4; Acts 6:2-5)

How long has Jennerstown Community Church existed?

History: United Evangelical – Pittsburgh Conference. A merger of two churches: Evangelical, Pittsburgh Conference and United Brethren, Allegheny Conference. In 1905 the Evangelical group bought the former brick Presbyterian Church. There was no preaching from 1915-1918. On May 18, 1918 the church was re-opened. A new church was dedicated February 5, 1956; and an educational unit was added in 1962. On May 29, 1960 the Jenners Cross Roads United Brethren Church merged with Jennerstown. In 1970 Jennerstown was linked with Bethany and Saint John’s. The membership in 1970 was 138. The membership on January 1, 2002 was 185.  On August 1, 2023, the Jennerstown congregation disaffiliated from the United Methodist Church and became Jennerstown Community Church, a Global Methodist congregation.

The desire to know God and to make Him known is immense within the lives of Patrick and Leanne Buckner. There is a passion and an awakening deep within their hearts to actively live out what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ and to show the community the love of The Savior. Outreach opportunities and vision keep being poured out from the Holy Spirit on both Patrick and Leanne in order to accomplish one ultimate goal which is to point all people in the direction of who God is through living out an everlasting faith, and doing outreach for His Kingdom. For His glory.

Pastor Patrick is a South Jersey native who currently serves as the Lead Pastor of Jennerstown Community Church in Somerset County, PA since September 2024. Before relocating to Somerset County, Patrick served as an Associate Pastor of a church network in the southern end of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania since 2019. Patrick recently received his Master of Divinity Degree in May of 2025, and is pursuing a Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling beginning in September 2025. He is a coffee lover, movie buff, and thrives on individuals who cast vision!

Leanne is originally from New Holland, Pennsylvania and she has numerous years experience in piecing together mission and outreach opportunities for the surrounding community. She applies her gift of graphic design for fliers and social media posts from her time working at the American Cancer Society in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Leanne's heart is for mission and for being the hands and feet of Jesus to the hurt and the broken. She is passionate about seeing people come together in unity all for the Kingdom of God to be furthered and for the ones He calls to be sent out. Leanne serves as the secretary, the youth leader at JCC, chair of the mission and congregational care board at JCC, and the visionary/catalyst for her and Patrick's nonprofit mission called Unashamed Ministries, which seeks to serve those in the surrounding community.

Both Pastor Patrick and Leanne look forward to getting to know you!

Sunday School Classes for All, Sundays at 10:00 AM

Primary Class is for children ages 3 to Kindergarten.  Taught by a rotating team of teachers and helpers, our youngest members begin to learn how important God is in their lives through stories, pictures and fun activities. This class is downstairs in the Blue Room.

Elementary Class is for children in grades 1 through 4, taught by Heather Kush, and is located downstairs between the kitchen and the rest rooms. The children experience lessons made enjoyable by various activities which help them learn how the Bible guides their lives as they grow in their Christian faith.

Middle/High School Class is for students in grades 5 through 12 and is held downstairs in the bright yellow room across from the kitchen, taught by Kathy Ryniak.  She is teaching a 30-part lesson series from Answers in Genesis.  The young people are guided in knowing how Bible teachings apply to their lives as Christians at home, at school and in the community.

Young Adult Class is taught by Helen Onstead downstairs just off the main room. Lively discussions take place as the group uses the Wired Word as a basis for applying Bible teachings to their view of current events in the World.

Adult (Seekers) Class is led by the pastor downstairs on the right in the hallway. To further their knowledge of God’s Word and intent in their lives, the members choose materials for areas they would like to study and discuss.

Adult (Pathfinders) Class is led by Beverly Penrod downstairs in the main social room. Participants study the Bible in depth to learn the interconnections throughout the Old and New Testaments and how its teachings still impact and guide their daily lives as Christians.
